You don’t need us to tell you that your website is essential to nearly every department of your business or organization. From sales to marketing, customer service, HR, and more, your company’s website either supports or neglects your efforts to serve customers, employees, potential hires, and anyone else who may visit or frequent your site.

The goal of nearly every professional website is to satisfy the visitor’s journey and drive business forward, right? To achieve that, you have to have an effective website. And to achieve that, you have to have a well-planned, strategically designed website with a user interface (UI) that satisfies and even enhances the user experience (UX).

What Is M&R’s Web Design Process?

With over 16 years in the business of designing websites, studying trends, and continuously improving our methods and capabilities in web design, we have come to establish a highly effective web design process for the benefit of every client we serve, no matter their business or organization.

Step One – Detailed Discovery

Before we write one word, design one element, or write one line of code for a client’s website, we get to know the client as well as possible, learning every detail of who they are, what they do, why they serve, and what they want from their website. Our discovery is a deep dive into the who, what, how, and why of a company, ensuring we understand:

  • Brand voice
  • Company mission and values
  • Product and service messaging
  • Company history and vision for the future
  • Current customer base and target audience
  • Company needs that the website will satisfy

Among others.

Step Two – Thorough Strategy

In every website design project, we employ a team of in-house project managers, copywriters, graphic designers, and web developers who plan optimized strategies that align with what we learned from the discovery phase. We strategize internally with one another through a collaborative process that utilizes all our analytic and creative mind power, as well as externally with our point(s) of contact to achieve an optimal web design that aims to not only satisfy but to exceed expectations.

Our strategies cover:

  • Design elements
  • Development features
  • Images and visuals
  • Navigation
  • Page structure
  • Sitemap
  • Web content

Step Three – Consistent Communication

None of our departments work in isolation from each other. As mentioned, our process ensures we collaborate with one another to stay on track and within the vision and goals for the website. We also maintain thorough communication with our clients, keeping them abreast of progress, timelines, milestones, etc. Plus, our communication gives clients the chance to ensure we are maintaining accuracy with their brands, company information, and more.

Without consistent communication, balls get dropped, visions become blurry, and trains get derailed—all things M&R refuses to let happen. Providing deliverables and achieving client satisfaction on time and in line with expectations is extremely important to us, which is why we prioritize communication throughout the web design process.

Step Four – Well-Planned Creation

The creativity we employ throughout the web design process isn’t so much a step as an overarching part of the process—creation begins in the discovery phase and can continue on past the time of the website going live. However, there is a period following the strategy phase where the various components of the website are created—the web copy, the complete design, and the actual website itself.

This is the lengthiest step in the process, as it takes time to write, design, and code a custom website that fits all the strategies, visions, and goals discussed up to this point. But thanks to our dedication to communication, clients are never left to wonder where we are in the creative process or what our team is up to. If a change must be made to the timeline, we’re sure to communicate it. Whether our progress is such that we’re ahead of schedule or something has prevented us from providing a certain deliverable on the designated date, clients will know. They can also know that when the deliverable arrives—whether it’s the web copy, web design, or website in its preview stage—it’s going to be strategically and effectively creative.

Step Five – Launch and Evaluation

Once every aspect of the website is approved and ready for visitors to see, we send the site live! But it doesn’t have to end there! Through hosting and monitoring, we’re able to evaluate the new site and determine how it is performing using cold, hard facts and data, otherwise known as site analytics. We’re able to see firsthand how our strategies are playing out, if there are opportunities for further growth, and if there are chances to apply changes and improve some aspects for even better site performance.

Of course, we wouldn’t make any changes without first running it by the client, but our ability to receive data and provide a thorough analysis of what the data is showing is a huge benefit that clients should not miss out on.
